Depo Provera Detox: Removing The Chemical Residues From Your System
In the early 1990s, a contraceptive injection call the Depo Provera was introduced in the market. It received rave reviews from the first women who used it because it was indeed very effetive in preventing pregnancy. A single injected dose can prevent pregnancy for three months.
The drug worked by stopping the release of the egg cell as well as making the cervical mucus congeal to block the passage of the sperm up towards the fallopian tubes.
However, after a few years, the drug quickly lost its popularity once news of its side effects broke out. Several women who have used the drug began to experience unexplained weight gain, considerable hair fall, and serious skin problems. In more extreme cases, there have even been signs of depression and severe paranoia.
Naturally, women stopped using this drug after experiencing the adverse effects themselves or even just hearing about it from other women. But the damage has been done, and although they are not having Depo Provera injections anymore, there are traces of the drug still present in their bloodstream.
If you are among the former users of this drug, it is highly recommended that you undergo a Depo Provera detox treatment to completely eliminate all traces of the chemicals from your body. Even if you have only used the drug once and have not experienced any of the abovementioned side effects, it is still advisable to undergo the Depo Provera detox treatment. After all, it is always better to be sure when it comes to your own health.
For women who have had just one or two shots of the drug, a regular Depo Provera detox program will be sufficient to clean out your system. All you have to do is to take in extra amounts of fluids daily to help swill down the poisonous chemical from your body. The ideal fluid intake is about 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday. You may also drink herbal teas and fresh fruit and vegetable juices as an alternative to water.
A Depo Provera detox treatment also includes a moderate amount of exercise. It is recommended that you do half an hour of brisk walking daily in order to stimulate your blood circulation and help flush out the drug’s chemical residues left in your body.
Medical professionals also recommend that you try acupuncture or acupressure as these traditional methods have been proven to be very effective in enhancing the adrenals of your body, which can help eliminate the harmful chemical. Some women have also reported that undergoing sauna sessions have helped a lot in boosting the effects of their Depo Provera detox treatments.
If you have only had a few shots of the defective drug, a few days of Depo Provera detox treatment will be enough to completely eradicate the chemical from your body. However, if you are among the women who had been regularly using the contraceptive for several years, you will need to undergo a longer and possibly more drastic kind of Depo Provera detox treatment.
I’ve just recently gotten the depo shot around october 6 and with everything that I’ve read about all the side effects I’ve decided to stop the depo and not go back for my second shot. Before i got the depo i had gotten an abortion about 3 weeks before and i was spotting but the same day i got the shot the spotting stopped and since then i haven’t spotted or gotten my period so it got me a lil worried.
I also received my first depo shot back in late September and refuse to go back for another. I didn’t realize it until I read that it was a side effect but I lost significant amounts of hair. I also started my menstrual two weeks late and it lasted for two weeks! Recently I’ve had irregular bleeding for 3 consecutive weeks! The shot is great and all but how are you supposed to enjoy the kinks of it (like no condom use) if it has you bleeding all the time!? Ugh. I am definitely going to my doctor to find out about any detox methods available. Depo completely messed up my normal body functioning.
I too am looking for a way to flush this aweful drug out of my body. Are you saying that simply drinking extra fluids and exercise will do it, or is there something else one needs to take. Please, I need very specific instructions. I’m desperate.
I got the depo shot on Oct 27, 6 weeks after delivery my third child, and started spotting, and sometimes more than spotting / bleeding a few days later, and it’s now been 6 weeks of non-stop spotting/bleeding. I am so fed up with this. First I had postpartum bleeding for 5 weeks and then two weeks of no bleeding and now back to that.
I’ve also gained 6 lbs in just 4 weeks. I’m normally very thin and don’t ever have a problem with weight gain. I had a baby 3 months ago and was back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 119 lbs after one week post delivery. And stayed there until after the shot. This is very upseting in addition to the spotting constantly which in itself is the birth control (abstinence). I will definately not take the shot again. I would never have taken the shot had I known how I would react to it, but my doctor said that side affects were light to no spotting and for short periods, well not me. Please help me.
I have two boys that are 17 months apart. I’m always asked if they are twins. They are so close in age that it almost feels that way.
After my second son was born I wanted the strongest birth control there was. Without having to leave something in side of me for 5 years. (creepy!) Mind you that I have never taken any kind of birth control before. So after being pregnant for almost three years, (I had a miscarriage before my first son) I did not want to have another baby. There was already so much going on. So I had the shot three months after giving birth to my second son.
I did lose a little hair, but that stopped after a little while. I never had a period or spotting of any kind after my first shot. My husband and I had unprotected sex all the time. It was exactly what we were looking for.
Then after about 1 year things got harder. I didn’t want to have sex, I was depressed and gaining weight. I just thought it was because of two small kids, a new house and a new job. So I really wasn’t listening to my body. I continued to take it for about another year and a half. Till one day I just put two and two together and realized that it had to be the shot.
I stopped taking it about 4 months ago. Almost immediately I felt better. I had more energy, I was not depressed any more and most important I wanted to have sex again. I will say that over all I really liked the shot. It did exactly what I wanted it to. I do think that when your doctor tells you the risks of a medication that you really do need to listen to them. Condoms really are the best way. They don’t mess with your hormones and they are cheaper!
I had 3 shots I guess and I started in March of 2008 and then I had a constant spotting/ bleeding till December 2008. I bleed or spotted, no joke, the entire time on depo. So then I began to noticed extreme weight gain in September and became very upset when everyone was being asked if I was pregnant. I had gained 30lds from September to December and I am now off and on Orthrao Evra and I want to just have a period again first. So if I just continue on water and exercise I should be good?
I had 4 depo shots, the biggest mistake of my life. I have experienced every side effect possible. I need to detox and rid this poison from my body. I have fibroids, which is why my doctor recommended the shot. It just made a bad situation worse. I am in nursing school the bleeding never stopped. I am in pain and sick all the time. I am considering pulling out of nursing school. Biggest mistake ever…
Ive taken two depo shots and have had weight gain. I am desperate to get the drug out of my system. Are you sure thats all i need to rid myself of it? or is there something else i need to take??
I took my first shot Oct. 5th, and now I am having the worst period of my life (and I’ve had a couple of decades of experience). Scary heavy bleeding, and cramps that made me cry, and I usually have a very high tolerance for pain. I’m depressed, fatigued, YUCK! I’m not taking another course of this. It’s terrible! Besides the weight gain, which is obviously something no one wants, I feel like I’m experiencing all of the negative side effects. I should have researched this more before I agreed to it. It was strongly suggested to me instead of the pill because of my increased risk for heart disease and stroke.
