Detox Soup Diet: The Delicious Way To A Healthy Body

Many people are turned off by detox programs because of the notion that the foods allowed under them are totally bland and unpalatable. Not so with a detox soup diet. There are people who go nuts over soup and there are even restaurants exclusively serving these hot, soothing dishes.

Soups are most everyone’s comfort food, and putting a little variety in them when used in a detox soup diet can spell the difference between an unsuccessful attempt at detox and a successful one.

The most popular soup used for detox is cabbage soup. This is because cabbage is available year-round, is easy to prepare, and is reportedly rich in substances that combat cancer. It can also be combined with other healthy ingredients to make a nutritious and hearty soup.

Cabbage belongs to the Family Brassica and has been ignored as health food for the longest time. However, it has recently been found to be highly beneficial for regular bowel movement and detoxification. Just a few of its benefits are: It is low in calories and fats; it can control malignancy in cancers and other ailments; and it can be combined with other ingredients to make delicious-tasting soup.

The detox soup diet, however, is designed to be used for just one week. This is because it lacks adequate nutritional content and thus should only be used for detoxification. Studies have shown that cabbage soup is low in fatty acids, calcium, and protein, but is high in monosodium glutamate content. In addition, you are not allowed to consume any type of alcoholic drink during this 1-week period.

How to prepare

The detox soup diet recipe for cabbage is simple. There are no calories to count, so you can just cook away every day. You can even cook a large batch of this soup and store the remainder in the freezer for future consumption.

Get some green onions, tomatoes, celery, and green peppers. Wash the vegetables thoroughly. You can mix in some onion soup mix but it’s better to just use kosher salt and pepper to taste because prepared mixes almost always have preservatives in them. You can add in some juice plus some exotic spices such as curry powder or garlic powder to make it taste better.

On the fifth and sixth days, you are allowed to eat meat. Vegetarians are puzzled as to how to go about this because the cabbage soup detox diet requires strict adherence to the types of food it lists down. In this case, common sense dictates that vegetarians may just forego the meat and stick to the cabbage soup instead.

Life after the detox soup diet

You are advised to go on a normal diet after one week of the detox soup diet. However, for best results, do not attempt to go back to eating junk foods. Instead, make certain changes to your usual fare. For instance, replace refined sugar with unprocessed sugar, white rice with brown rice, white bread with whole wheat, and canned and frozen foods with organic foods.

If you want to replace meat with a larger intake of fruits and vegetables, don’t forget to take nutritional supplements to compensate for the nutrition you will lack.
