Making A Detox Plan: Personalizing Your Program
If you have made up your mind about embarking on a detox program, you should first draw up a plan so no time and energy would be wasted. First, you need to determine why you want a detox, and what type of results you’re looking for.
Some people design a detox plan to relieve bloating; others try to remedy fatigue, while others just want to lose weight in the fastest time possible. The detox plan you choose should be targeted towards your objective, your lifestyle, and your overall health.
Although there are many detox plans available, one thing they have in common is that they all require an assessment prior to their use. You may be asked by your physician to undergo a detox screening test or a general physical examination so you’ll know which detox plans can be harmful to you.

The advantages and disadvantages of detox
In order to make the procedure as successful as possible, you are advised to be familiar with the pros and cons of detox plans. For instance, before starting, you should know that this procedure involves several side effects perhaps a few days into the program. The most common of these are headaches, dizziness, irritability, and even acne.
Sometimes, you’ll experience these side effects if it’s your first time to go on a diet plan and if the one you choose is too drastic. Others have a go at a detox plan the second time around but make it less rigid. Second-timers usually don’t experience the same adverse side effects, as their bodies have already adjusted to the changes.
Make your detox plan thorough by listing down the foods you should include and those you must avoid. Generally, junk food, dairy products, and foods which are high in saturated fatty acids are eliminated from the diet, as is meat. On the other hand, it should be loaded with fresh fruits and vegetables, soups, and brown rice.
Fillers you can use are rice pasta, rice flakes, and rice crackers. Other grains you may substitute for these are millet, buckwheat, quinoa, and amaranth. You may also include beans in your diet. Those that are good for digestion are lentils, green peas, and split yellow beans.
Don’t forget the “seed” family – unsalted nuts are not just great for breaking the monotonous taste of fruits and veggies but also keep you from starving and contain phytochemicals which have excellent antioxidant properties. If you plan on cooking your veggies, use only extra virgin olive oil. However, they’re best when thoroughly washed and eaten raw.
