What Are Foot Detox Pads?
Detoxification is the process of flushing out toxins that have accumulated in our bodies over time. We get them from unhealthy habits such as smoking or drinking, from processed and junk foods, lack of exercise, and even from worry and stress.
There are various types of detox methods, but not all of them are appropriate for everyone. The more drastic detox diets with very limited food intake, for instance, cannot possibly be managed by senior citizens, those with chronic diseases, or children.
Teenagers who are involved in strenuous athletic pursuits, those diagnosed with malnutrition, pregnant women, and nursing mothers are also not good candidates for extreme detox diets.
Despite this, they can still avail of a revolutionary detox method which isn’t invasive and is not as strict or as weakening as regular detox programs – the use of foot detox pads. These are large patches placed on the soles of the foot which reportedly can cleanse the body, returning vigor and renewing the body’s lost strength.
This invention has it roots in Asia and has already invaded the Western World. They currently sell lie hotcakes, despite numerous reports from skeptics who say that the foot is non-porous and the principle behind foot detox pads is therefore baseless.
Japanese scientists studied this technology for more than two decades. They claimed that the squarish pads, with tourmaline as its active component, are able to absorb the harmful toxins in our bodies through the soles of our feet and through other parts considered to be meridian points, such as the forehead, the back of the knee, or the area behind the ears.
How they are supposed to work
Tourmaline, the mineral in foot detox pads, is said to emit far infrared rays which give off negative ions. These allegedly possess therapeutic properties – improving alertness, strengthen your resistance to infections, and relieving stress.
Those who have tried these pads, which cost around $20 for 2 weeks’ supply, claim to feel instantly invigorated after having them on their feet while sleeping. They also report having more restful sleep while wearing these foot detox pads, one on each foot.
Aside from tourmaline, they contain the essence of wood vinegar which is said to be used in traditional Chinese medicine to cure irritations and infections. It is taken from beech, sakura, and oak saps. Also comprising these foot detox pads are silica, starch, chitosan, polyolic alcohol, and pearl stone.
These affect the body’s lymphatic system which is responsible for regulating a lot of processes involved in immunity and the warding off of illnesses. When this system is jammed, the harmful substances stagnate, giving rise to various ailments.
The manufacturers claim that when the foot detox pads are applied on the soles of the feet, at the back of the knee, on the forehead, or behind the ears – the lymphatic points – the toxin-holding fluids in the body are then released. A few of the illnesses that foot detox pads are said to treat are: sleep disorders, stress, lethargy, weak immune systems, arthritis, and other types of body pain.
